Embracing the use of old techniques, hand-crafted textiles, practical form and the natural qualities of materials, Wovenplay cultivates the savoir-faire and inspiration of the past to create modern couture for the everday artist and adventurer. Inspired by simple shapes, patterns and rich color drawn and printed by hand, the Wovenplay process is one of embellishing and manipulating materials and texture as well as discovering new techniques to create intriguing, imaginative and unexpected reults. The majority of Wovenplay's production is done in Brooklyn with a few printed styles produced at an organic/fair trade workshop in India. Most of the handwork, illustration, dyeing, printing and finishing is done in our studio. Cashmere sweaters are made by a woman's cooperative in Nepal, and dolls are made by Jess Brown in California with the doll costumes made by us in New York.
